Vysya is the community of traders, according to custom and convention from the rich past. Some of them have chosen to benefit the society in ways other than business. They have rightly endeavoured to promote the cause of education as laid down by Thiruvalluvar, the sage and law giver of the Tamil people. To translate this into a sustainable reality, Vasavi Vidya Trust was formed in 1989 at Salem, thanks to the munificent Vysyas alive to the above dictum and the establishment of a college was wheeled into action. Thus, Vysya College, started in the year 1990 stands as a shining example. The duality behind the inception of this college is to serve both the community and the society.
Located in a serene atmosphere on the Salem-Attur highway in Salem, the Steel city also known as Mango city of Tamilnadu, the college also enjoys the unstinting support of Salemites. The college has both the sweetness of mango and the sturdiness of steel.
This tiny seed, which was sown in the year 1990, has grown into a huge, stately tree today. Yes, the college has made tremendous progress since then, not only in its infrastructure but also in innovative methods of imparting education. The college to equip young learners to come to terms with the advances being made in the field of education is the first in India to introduce Hi-tech digitalized classes with CCTVs (Closed Circuit TV) in the classrooms.
